Today I want to honor the woman which I met on the market in Leogane, Haiti. She sat on the ground with just a few vegetables to sell. Plastic around her. But all dirt and all misery around her vanished from my sight, when I looked into her face. Her eyes did shine brightly. And her inherent dignity was so obvious and overwhelming to me, that I asked her for a photo. For me the beauty of diversity and of her uniqueness oviously shines through. See the outcome here.
Indeed I entered this picture into a group exhibition called „our saints“. And this is, what she was and is to me: not just a mere unknown market woman on a street full of rubble after the earthquake of Haiti… She is a SAINT. Whole. All is there. Nothing is missing.
