Today I am in solidarity with all victims of violence. And on this day I especially think of those that were and are victims of the Srebrenica Massacre (July 11, 1995).
Even though the massacre happened 21 years ago in Srebrenica, in the Balcans, remains unforgotten. What many history books call the “biggest genocide in Europe after World War II” still shows wounds in many peoples minds and hearts.
Thus – also this year – I like to continue to contribute with showing my solidarity to those that suffer.
And today to explicity remind the survivors of Srebrenica – as well as the survivors of violence around the world of our potential as human beings.
Hopes & Wishes
I hope that we all – meaning all human beings – will learn from past failures and mistakes.
I hope that violence diminishes and that loving kindness will grow.
I hope that we have the courage to look others into the eyes and really want to know and understand those that seem different. I hope that we continue on the long road towards peace and understanding through continuous efforts and dialog, beginning in our own family, than expanding to the near and far neighborhood, to those we meet in our lifetime and even those that we don´t meet but share the same planet earth with.
May the seeds of understanding grow.
And may we ask for forgiveness, where we wronged or felt that others wronged us.
And were we feel that we are not (yet) able to forgive: may we ask God to help us to forgive.
So that we can live and unfold freely as human beings. Without a bitter taste on our tongue. But with love in our heart.
May love & understanding spread. So that we all can live a life worth living.
HUMAN BEING. BEING HUMAN.
